Appellant leg amputated due to injuries suffered in motor accident. Tribunal awarded compensation which was reduced by High Court. Whether insurance company was entitled to file an appeal against award of Tribunal. Insurance company when impleaded can contest proceedings on merits only if conditions precedent mentioned in Section 149 (2) was satisfied. Insurance company had to obtain Order in writing from Tribunal otherwise it cannot have wider defense on merits than what is available to it by way of statutory defense.
