In this case, the chairman of the Tamil Nadu Cauvery Riots Relief Authority has asked a clarification that whether the authority can decide the claim in case the riot took place in Karanataka but the victim has now settled down in Tamil Nadu. The court directed that as per the order constituting these authorities, the authority is required to deal with only those cases that occur in their state irrespective of the fact where the victim resides.
